Primary & Guest Bathroom Remodels in North Austin, TX
These two bathrooms in a 1970s North Austin home needed full updates to replace the original layouts, framed‑in closets, and dated finishes. The homeowners wanted brighter, more functional spaces with modern fixtures and improved storage. Owner, Bert Bell reworked both bathrooms from the ground up, finalizing all scope and selections before demo to keep the project organized from start to finish.
Primary Bathroom:
We removed everything from floor to ceiling and opened the space by eliminating the wall between the bathroom and closet. The full‑height storage cabinets, soffits, and framed‑in shower were removed to make room for a larger, more functional layout. Plumbing supply and drain lines were relocated in the foundation for the new double‑bowl vanity and walk‑in shower. The updated design features a white shaker vanity with granite countertops, two motion‑sensor mirrors, and a low‑iron glass shower with a clean, modern feel.
Guest Bathroom:
The guest bath received a complete overhaul as well. We removed the framed‑in corner closet, soffits, and the dividing wall between the tub and vanity to open the space. Plumbing lines were relocated in the foundation to accommodate a new layout with a soaking tub and shower, low‑iron frameless glass, and recessed wall niches. The main shower wall is accented with 8x8 Apache Black tile for contrast. A custom cabinetry storage area was added with towel cubbies and a built‑in makeup desk for everyday convenience.
The homeowners appreciated the communication, craftsmanship, and attention to detail throughout the project. Both bathrooms now feel brighter, more open, and far more functional than their original 1970s layouts.
