GREAT HILLS KITCHEN

Kitchen Remodel in Great Hills, Austin TX 78759

This 1971 home in Great Hills had a tiny, closed-off kitchen -- just 90 square feet -- buried behind multiple walls and completely cut off from the living and dining areas. The homeowners wanted something open, bright, and connected. Owner Bert Bell reworked the entire plan, finalizing scope and selections before demo to keep the project organized from start to finish.

Three walls came out completely, replaced by two large structural beams spanning the full width of the space. The original 90-square-foot kitchen effectively doubled in size, and the combined open area -- kitchen, living room, dining area, and entryway -- now spans roughly 750 square feet. A 4.5 x 7-foot island with seating on two sides became the centerpiece, housing a Bosch induction cooktop and canopy island hood.

The kitchen features a Bosch speed oven and convection combo, Bosch dishwasher, frameless shaker cabinetry to the ceiling in a two-tone finish -- white wall cabinets paired with a dark chocolate stained island -- and a 3x6 green Lucente Cascade glass tile backsplash. New 20x20 tile flooring runs throughout the entire open area, tying the transformed space together.

The finished Great Hills kitchen remodel gave this North Austin home something it never had -- an open, functional layout that matches the way the homeowners actually live.
