Custom Cabinetry Project -- West Lake Hills, Austin TX 78746
This Lake Austin Bungalow project was part of a full high-end home remodel in a West Lake Hills neighborhood overlooking Lake Austin. The general contractor managed the overall renovation, and Owner Bert Bell was brought in specifically to design, build, and install all custom cabinetry throughout the home. The homeowners wanted a rich, contemporary look that felt warm and refined -- and that brief shaped every cabinet in the house.
The design theme throughout is radius and arch -- compound-radiused island back, s-curved upper wine racks, and full custom cabinetry built to complement the home's architecture at every turn. The finish is a deep burgundy achieved through a six-step dye staining process -- a layered technique that penetrates the wood grain to produce color depth and vibrancy that standard staining simply can't match. The kitchen features a curved granite island, integrated wine refrigerator, and a dedicated bar area with a stainless steel countertop edge and custom wine storage built into the cabinetry above.
The custom work extended well beyond the kitchen. Bert also designed and built a one-of-a-kind dining table with a stainless steel top and walnut legs, a custom walnut cocktail table with glass top, and additional radius-inspired cabinetry pieces to carry the design language consistently through the home. The homeowner was so impressed with the quality and attention to detail that he later hired KBB to remodel two of his investment properties.
