South Congress Kitchen Remodel Austin, TX
This South Congress duplex in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood is another investment property owned by the same client for whom we completed the Lake Austin Bungalow project. The original 1983 kitchen was closed in with soffits, a pony wall, and an end wall that restricted the layout and made the space feel dated. Owner, Bert Bell reworked the plan to modernize the kitchen, improve the flow, and create a clean, durable design ideal for a rental home.
We removed everything from floor to ceiling, eliminating the soffits, pony wall, and end wall to open the Bouldin Creek, Austin, TX kitchen. Electrical and plumbing were rerouted and upgraded, and new flooring was installed throughout the first floor. The entire duplex interior was repainted to give the home a fresh, cohesive look.
The kitchen features frameless slab‑style cabinets to the ceiling, Grey Expo Silestone countertops, a linear stone‑and‑glass backsplash, and new stainless steel appliances. Recessed ceiling lighting and under‑cabinet LEDs were added to brighten the workspace and highlight the clean, modern finishes.
The result is a bright, functional South Congress investment property kitchen remodel that feels significantly more open and updated than the original 1980s layout. The homeowner appreciated the efficient process and attention to detail, continuing a strong working relationship across multiple properties.
Before & After Images of South Congress Duplex
"I have used Bert Bell for 3 remodel jobs (personal residence and 2 investment properties), and also referred him to my brother for a large bathroom remodel. Bert is very detailed, always responsive, and does excellent work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any remodel or new-build project.”- Chris R. (Austin, Texas)
